December 23, 2023What Is A Dental Implant? In What Situations Should Implants Be Used?
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots placed when teeth are missing. You can also define implantation as the artificial replacement of lost tooth roots. Many people with missing teeth face numerous functional and aesthetic problems. Implants can also be placed if the last teeth in the jaw are missing and a fixed prosthesis (such as a crown or bridge) cannot be fabricated.
What Are the Different Types of Implants?
At our clinic, dental implants can be performed by dental professionals using 5 different techniques.
These include:
Same Day Implantation (One Day-Immediate Implantation)
This is a method where tooth extraction and implant treatment are carried out in one appointment. The advantage of this method is that it is very convenient and practical for both the patient and the doctor. Also, since it is a sutureless method that requires no incisions, another advantage is the immediate return to social life.
Sutureless Implant Technique
In the sutureless implant technique, also known as the closed flap technique, there are no incisions and no stitches are used because there are no incisions. In the sutureless implantation technique, a groove is made in the area to be implanted using a tool called a perforator, into which the implant is placed. Thus, there are no complications such as stitches, bleeding and pain that can occur with surgery.
Placement of Short Implants
Short implants are placed to restore missing teeth. A short implant is placed if the patient does not have enough bone tissue. Short implants, which require less bone, are made of titanium. This method of implantation is usually preferred for the treatment of side teeth.
Classic Surgical Method
In this method, an appropriate incision is made in the implant area of the patient and the implant is placed there. Sutures are then placed. After 1 week, the sutures are removed. In this method, if the bone density is insufficient when the implant is placed, bone augmentation surgery is performed along with the implant.
All On Four Implant Technique
The All On Four implant technique is a method that allows a denture to be fixed in one day on four dental implants placed at a certain angle in patients without teeth.
Dental Implant Brands Used in Turkey
There are many domestic and foreign brands that manufacture implants.
The brands of implants used in our clinic are:
- Domestic,
- Megagen ST implant,
- Medentica implant (BY STRAUMANN),
- Nobel Biocare implant,
- Astra Tech implant,
- Straumann Roxolide implant.
When implants are used, the area to be treated with local anesthesia is anesthetized first.
The implants are placed in place of the missing tooth.
If the implant will be placed in a previously extracted tooth, an additional space is created for the implant. A small hole is opened by cutting through the gum.
Since this surgery is performed under anesthesia, no pain is felt.
It takes 4-6 months for the implant to take root in the bone tissue. This process is called osseointegration.
With implanted teeth, the patient can regain their previous comfort in terms of functionality and aesthetics in everyday life.
Who Can Be A Candidate for Dental Implants?
Individuals who are 18 years of age or older.
Individuals who have completed the formation of the chin and face.
Individuals whose jaw structure is suitable for implants.
How Long Does It Take for Dental Implants in Turkey?
You will need to stay in Turkey for about 7-8 days for implantation in Turkey.
The process includes the first examination (examination of the oral structure with X-rays and CT scans), placement of the implants.
The implants then fuse with the jawbone and the patient is invited back for further treatment.
How Many Times Do I Need to Visit Turkey for Dental Implants?
You need to visit Turkey 2 times for dental implant treatment. This is because implant treatment consists of two stages. The first stage consists of examination and placement of the implant. The second stage requires a certain period of time until the implants take root in the jawbone. This period is 4-6 months. At the end of this period, the patient is invited to our clinic for a second examination. The implant treatment is then completed with the placement of fixed teeth. As with the first treatment, our patients have to stay in Turkey for 7-8 days during the second visit.
