What Is Implant in Complete Edentulism?
Implant in complete edentulism is the absence of any tooth in the mouth and the application of implant treatment in this case. After tooth loss, bone loss and related aesthetic, health and functional problems arise. In patients who have lost all their teeth for various reasons, 2 to 4 implants can be placed. Removable prostheses are prepared on these implants. The aim is to prevent the tooth from moving while talking, eating and even sneezing with implant supports. After the removable prosthesis option in implant treatment in total edentulism, the other option is fixed prosthesis. In this option, the prosthesis is glued onto the implant and a natural tooth appearance is obtained.
How Is Complete Edentulism Treated?
Treatment options in complete edentulism are divided into 3 sections:
- Fixed prostheses prepared with implants
- Removable prostheses prepared with implants
- Removable total prostheses that are made without the use of any implant, that is, the patient can put on and take off on his own.
Among these, total prostheses prepared without the use of implants are the most difficult for the patient.

- Not much time should pass after tooth extraction
- The jawbone must not fuse.
